Christmas 2010
As I think back on Christmas and 2010 I feel so blessed. Travis's business is steadily growing and he is still working at the church. He is such a hard worker and he is such a blessing to both Mackenzie and I. I am so grateful that he is willing to work so hard so that I can stay home with Mackenzie. It was really nice as well that this year Travis was able to take some time off work and spend time with his family for the Holidays. We went to Charlottesville Tuesday through Friday. On Friday we went over to his sister's house were we met up with the rest of his family. We spent the day there exchanging gifts and we had a fabulous breakfast. The nieces and nephews get gifts from everyone and then the adults have a white elephant exchange. We always have a blast doing this and we try and stay civil but it can get challenging =). We decided to leave his family on Friday afternoon because we wanted to attend the Christmas Eve service at our church. It was the first time as a family that we were able to do this and I am glad we were able to do it and we will continue to do so as long as the church offers one. The service is under a hour and it is very family friendly. The pastor usually prints out the Christmas story and cuts it into different sections. He then gets volunteers to come up and read it. In between the readings we sing songs. This year my mom played the piano. I was so excited when I found out she was going to be doing that because I don't get to hear her play very much. On Christmas morning Travis and I exchanged gifts and gave a few to Mackenzie before we went over to my parents house. We exchanged gifts with then and then headed over to My grandparents house in Richmond for dinner and to spend some time with them. Travis headed home that night and I stayed with the family til Monday. This year was probably one of the best Christmas's I have had and I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that as a family we were able to relax and not have to think about work.
Mackenzie really enjoyed Christmas this year and it was great getting to interact with her. We got her to help us with the Christmas lights and putting up the decorations. She is a true climber so I think we are going to have to be careful with that. Travis and I were putting up lights and we turned around and she had climbed up the ladder and was on the third step. She was so proud of herself.
